Frédéric Guilbert
Signs contract extension until 2028
Guilbert signed a contract extension with Nantes until 2028 with an option for a further year, committing his future to the club ahead of what will be a Ligue 2 campaign following their relegation, the club announced.
Analysis: Guilbert joined from Lecce in the winter transfer window and quickly established himself as a key figure under coach Vahid Halilhodzic, earning praise for his experience, commitment and leadership during what proved to be an ultimately unsuccessful survival battle. Despite Nantes' drop to the second division, the club expressed pride in retaining one of the most combative performers of the final stretch of the season, with Guilbert clearly committed to helping the club fight for an immediate return to Ligue 1.
Suffers knee injury
Guilbert (knee) has been ruled out of Sunday's season finale against Toulouse, according to coach Vahid Halilhodzic, per L'Equipe.
Analysis: Guilbert ends the season with 16 tackles, 21 interceptions and 31 clearances across eight Ligue 1 appearances for Nantes, having been a solid defensive presence on the right flank when available. Mathieu Acapandie is expected to step in at right-back for the final fixture of the campaign against Toulouse.
Six crosses in 1-0 defeat
Guilbert had six crosses (two accurate) and four chances created in Friday's 1-0 defeat to Lens.
Analysis: Guilbert made six interceptions, most by any player in the match. It was the first occasion in the league campaign where 31-year-old made five or more interceptions in a league fixture. Guilbert made three clearances as well.
