Tommaso Baldanzi
Stifled by Milan defenders
Baldanzi (thigh) had one off-target shot and 20 completed passes and drew one foul in Sunday's 1-0 defeat against Milan.
Analysis: Baldanzi played more than an hour after skipping three contests because of a thigh injury, but didn't get a lot going in the final third. He has fired at least one shot in his last four displays (three starts), accumulating eight attempts (two on target), assisting twice and notching five key passes and two interceptions during that stretch. Instead, he ended a three-game streak with one or more tackles in this one.
Starting on Sunday
Baldanzi (thigh) is in the XI to face Milan on Sunday.
Analysis: Baldanzi won't be eased into action and will replace Jeff Ekhator in the XI, as Genoa are going with a different look in this one. He has dished out two assists and notched eight shots (three on target), 11 tackles (six won) and seven crosses (one accurate) in his last seven showings (four starts).
Will stay out against Atalanta
Baldanzi (thigh) "won't return versus Atalanta on Saturday," coach Daniele De Rossi stated.
Analysis: Baldanzi will skip his second consecutive contest because of a muscular problem. The gaffer changed the scheme and added an extra defender, Sebastian Otoa, in the previous round. Junior Messias, Patrizio Masini and Amorim could benefit in the midfield.
Absent for Como match
Baldanzi hasn't been called up for Sunday's game versus Como, Genoa announced.
Analysis: Baldanzi picked up a late undisclosed muscular problem and won't be involved in this one. Junior Messias, Patrizio Masini and Amorim will absorb his minutes in the midfield.
